Living & Learning Community

The CELS Living and Learning Communities (LLC) are located in Browning Hall and give students the opportunity to become part of a unique experience that extends their learning beyond the classroom. LLC's offer programs that reflect the interests of the community members, host study sessions and provide academic and social support to students through an on-site Resident Peer Mentor and Resident Advisors. By being part of an LLC, students will have the opportunity to experience a more personal and less formal way of learning. They will live amongst other stundents who share the same interests and will build strong relationships with their peers.
Browning Hall - First year Students

Why would being part of the CELS Living and Learning Community be beneficial to me as a student and a person? Why would I choose to live in a residence hall with people who have majors similar to mine?
             Benefits of living in the CELS First-Year LLC include:
  • Making new friends with similar academic interests
  • Learning success skills and strategies
  • Gaining an increased knowledge about your major and career options
  • Forming study groups and sharing learning experiences
  • Enjoyable and educational in-house programming/events
  • Personalized interaction with faculty
  • Guidance and support from CELS upperclassmen LLC students

Who is eligible to be a part of this experience?
LLCs are recommended for all incoming first year students.

How can I be a part of a CELS Living and Learning Community?

If you are a first year student, Living and Learning Community information will be included in your housing packet.
If you are a returning upperclass student, you must complete the LLC application located in the CELS Office of Student Affairs, 130 Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences.
