Master Composter/Recycler Program enrollment starts

The Master Composter/Recycler Program, offered by the CELS Outreach Center, is now enrolling participants for the spring session which starts April 3.
The program is conducted in partnership with the RI Resource Recovery Corporation and the purpose is to train volunteers on composting and to become advocates for composting and recycling within their local communities around the state.
To earn the title of “Master Composter/Recycler” participants have to attend a 14-hour course and fulfill a volunteer commitment of at least 30 hours.
Class topics include the economic and environmental benefits of recycling and composting, the science of composting and the basic techniques and materials needed to start and to maintain a successful home compost pile.
The program offers a number of opportunities for individuals to become more active in their community, to tour various composting facilities in the state and to learn practical composting skills through hands-on activities and listening to the experiences of knowledgible composters.
