Four URI/CELS students won the Wildlife Quiz Bowl at the Conclave hosted by Penn State at Hawk Mountain, PA.

Four URI/CELS students won the Wildlife Quiz Bowl recently at the Conclave hosted by Penn State at Hawk Mountain, PA.

The win was the second in a row for a team from URI, said Peter Paton, chair of the Department of Natural Resources Science.

The winning students are Mike Petrarca, Zach Severino, Courtney Beaulieu and Meg Markle.

The students were tested on their knowledge in the fields of ornithology, herpetology, mammalogy, ichthyology, botany, ecology and wildlife management concepts.

To win the competition, the URI students were pitted against teams from UMass, UMaine, SUNY-College of Environmental Science and Forestry (Syracuse), SUNY (Cobbleskill, Paul Smith College, University of Delaware, Frostburg State University (MD) and California University of PA.
