URI Community Nutrition programming is an outreach component of CELS to bring much-needed nutrition education and resource management skills to families struggling with low income. URI community nutrition education is offered through two distinct programs in core urban areas:
EFNEP, or Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, AND
SNAP-Ed, or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education
Both programs deliver evidence-based curricula to eligible audiences in a wide range of sites throughout the state. Below is a quick comparison of the two programs, with contact information for each. More detailed information about each program can be found using the links at the left.
