Large tree with ashy gray scaly bark. The dark green leathery leaves are lobed with the middle pair of lobes being larger and distinctly squared. 1-1/2” acorns are attractive to wildlife. Tolerates dry gravelly or sandy soil and rocky sites. Full sun. Native to RI. 40-50’ x 40-50’.
