Plant Attributes

Native to Rhode IslandNative Rhode Island species are those which were present (indigenous) in the Northeastern Coastal Zone (as defined by the EPA & Commission for Environmental Cooperation, 1997) prior to European settlement.
Naturalized species have become established through cultivation or accidental introduction by humans. They are capable of surviving normal climatic fluctuations and reproducing successfully outside of their indigenous habitat range.
Invasive species are non-native species that are capable of moving aggressively into a habitat and monopolizing resources such as light, nutrients, water, and space to the detriment of other species
